Fall 2025 Lake Lowering & Mechanical Dredging

Hello Neighbors,

The lake lowering is upon us. Beginning Sunday, October 19th, we will begin pulling our dam to Lake Spivey, initiating an initial drop of 2–4 inches in Lake Jodeco’s water level. Lake Spivey has confirmed their plug will be opened no sooner than October 25th, at which point our lake will begin lowering more rapidly—dropping 3–4 feet over the course of a week, or roughly 4–8 inches per day. By November 5th, we anticipate a total drop of approximately 3–4 feet.

In a third phase, coordinated with Lake Spivey, we will pump our lake below the dam’s typical limit, exposing additional shoreline for maintenance and dredging. This phase will begin in the days and weeks following, with a projected total drop of 5–6 feet below normal lake level.

What to Expect:
  • Dry lakebed will be visible along all shorelines.

  • Heavy equipment will be operating to dredge sediment that has built up since our last dredging in 2018—targeting three key locations (see image).

  • Boat owners: If your boat is located in one of the highlighted areas, please relocate it by October 25 to allow access for dredging crews. This includes the HOA dock, which will be an active work zone—all boats moored there must be removed.

Relocating Your Boat:

1. Boat ramp access: Water levels will begin dropping on October 19th—please plan accordingly.

2. Flotilla option: Starting October 18th, we’ll begin mooring boats together in a floating flotilla in the deeper part of the lake. You’re welcome to connect your boat and leave it there for the duration of the lake lowering (scheduled through February 1).

Boats will be secured with anchors and cinder blocks, and we’ll monitor them to ensure they remain safely in place.

Or simply tie your boat to the growing flotilla with bumpers and hitch a ride back to shore with a friend or neighbor. This is the Lake Jodeco way

Fundraising Update:

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us at the recent Lake Dredging Town Hall and Social Event or recently sent critical support our way. Thanks to your generosity, we’ve already reduced our fundraising goal from $40,000 to $30,000—but we’re not there yet.

Let’s finish strong.
If you haven’t yet paid your dues or contributed, now is the time. Every dollar directly impacts how much sediment we can remove—and how much shoreline we can restore.

If we fall short, the scope of dredging will be reduced and we will miss out on this opportunity to dredge mechanically at a significantly reduced price.

Let’s protect the lake we love and ensure this project delivers lasting impact.

Thank you for your cooperation, your generosity, and your commitment to preserving the health and beauty of Lake Jodeco.
